UPV inks MOU with ASU
The University of the Philippines Visayas , represented by its Chancellor, Dr. Rommel A. Espinosa entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for Institutional Cooperation with the Aklan State University (ASU), represented by its President, Dr. Danilo Abayon on September 23, 2015 at the UPV Iloilo City campus.
Having a common interest in fostering innovative capability-building programs in fisheries and aquatic sciences as a strategy to generate new knowledge, and sustain the development of technology, both institutions agreed to pursue the following objectives: 1) to develop collaborative activities in the furtherance of the common goals and objectives of UPV and ASU; 2) to undertake collaborative graduate level instruction, research, training and public service of extension programs; 3) to promote exchange of scientists and researchers for graduate level instruction, research, training and other related activities; 4) to strengthen the research capabilities of faculty and researches through the cooperative use of materials and facilities; and 5) to enhance the institutional capacities of UPV and ASU by collaborating in emerging trans-, inter-, and multi-disciplinary research programs of mutual interest.
Witnessing the MOU signing were Dr. Ricardo Babaran, Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension of UP Visayas and Dr. Yasmin Primavera Tirol, Campus Director of the ASU, New Washington Campus and Dr. Marilyn Romaquin, Executive Assistant to the ASU President.
