UPHSI prof is national leader of the 42nd Filipino SSEAYP delegates

Prof. Alfredo Diaz, a faculty member of the UP High School in Iloilo, College of Arts and Sciences, UP Visayas will serve as the national leader of the 28 youth ambassadors of goodwill from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao who will be in the 42nd Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP). The program is a diplomatic-cultural event that brings together more than 300 youths from Southeast Asian Nation member countries and Japan.

The Philippine contingent this year will carry the name “Saligan”, which is inspired by the value of trust grounded on united aspirations to showcase what it means to be a Filipino while building friendships and exchanging ideas with other nationalities.

Participating delegates from the Philippines will be composed of individuals from 18-30 years old who come from the sectors of young executives, entrepreneurs, medical practitioners, educators, community advocates, government trailblazers, artists, and senior students.

Their voyage will begin through the luxurious cruise ship Nippon Maru on October 26, 2015. The group will tour Japan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines. Moreover, the delegates will participate in the discussion on pressing social issues, cultural introductions, club activities, institutional visits, and home stay experience and community service within 51 days.

SSEAYP is principally sponsored by the Japanese government in cooperation with other ASEAN countries. The National Youth Commission under the Office of the President and SSEAYP International Philippines is in charge of the program.
