UPV Art Gallery showcases works of Ilonggo brother-artists
The UP Visayas Art Gallery presents BOXED-OUT, a painting exhibit by three Ilonggo artist-brothers Joel, Nelson, and Edgar Ferraris.
Boxed Out showcases the distinct individual themes, techniques and mediums employed by the three brothers who are all award-winning and accomplished artists.
Joel Ferraris Studied Architecture in UP Diliman. He was among the Top 10 Finalists in Cliftons Hong Kong Art Prize in 2014. He was a delegate in the 2014 Langkawi Art Biennale in Malaysia. His sculpture Prism 24 at SM North EDSA Sky Garden was the only Philippine sculpture featured in the book “500 x Art in Public: Masterpieces from the Ancient World to the Present” by Chris Van Uffelen. He has had solo and group shows in Hong Kong, Malaysia, the United States, and in the Philippines.
Nelson Ferraris won several major national painting competitions like the GRAND PRIZE in Metrobank’s 3rd Annual National Painting Competition and Exhibition in 1986, the GRAND PRIZE “Human Resources, Productivity and Cooperation” by the Titanium Group and Hiraya Gallery in 1989, FIRST PLACE in the 54th Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) Annual Art Competitions in 2001, and FIRST PLACE in the “National Stamp and Philatelic Competition and Exhibition” by the Philippine Post office in 1989 among others.
Edgar Ferraris was finalist in several national art contests like the Metrobank’s Young Painters Annual National Painting Competition and Exhibition and Pilipinas Shell’s National Student Painting Competition & Exhibition. He is a veteran of local and national group exhibitions.
Boxed Out, which opens on 25 September will run until 31 October 2015, is presented by the UPV Chancellor’s Committee on Culture and the Arts.
UPV Art Gallery is at the Main Building of the university’s Iloilo City campus.
