OVCRE holds 2nd RCWPS planning-workshop
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) of U.P. Visayas conducted the second planning workshop on Research, Creative Work, and Public Service (RCWPS) at the Audio-Visual Hall, Interactive Learning Center, College of Arts and Sciences, Miagao campus on January 7-8, 2016.
Deans, College Research and Extension Coordinators, heads of units, faculty, and REPS from the Miagao, Iloilo City, and Tacloban City campuses participated in the two-day activity.
Chancellor Rommel A. Espinosa welcomed the participants to the activity, which he was hoping will further enhance the research atmosphere in the University as well as promote its public service mandate. Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Ricardo B. Babaran presented the objectives of the workshop, which include:1) to present the summary of 2015 RCWPS performance and other OVCRE initiatives; 2) to identify priority projects for 2016; 3) to review the budget cycle process as well as to prepare the OVCRE budget plan for 2017 to include research, creative work, public service, publications, proposal review process, and institutional linkaging; and 4) to deliberate on some research-related policies for implementation and present policies for formulation.
The RCWPS activities of colleges/units of the University in 2015 were reviewed and discussed particularly that of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), College of Management (CM), School of Technology (SoTech), UPV Tacloban College (UPVTC), National Institute for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (NIMBB), Sentro ng Wikang Filipino (SWF), Office of the Continuing Education and Pahinungod (OCEP), and Gender and Development Program (GDP).These units also prepared and presented their respective RCWPS plans and proposals for 2017.The participants were re-oriented on the UPV Research, Creative Work, Publication, and Public Service (UPV-RCWPPS) Reporting System.
The first RCWPS workshop was conducted on February 2-3, 2015.
