UPV, APhio deliver health services to Brgy. Malagyan, Miagao
And so it begins. The promise to adopt a barangay for a year-long Feeding and Nutrition Program for children, Well-Baby Clinic, Medical Clinic and Dental Services for adults and children officially started on January 16, 2016 at the Barangay Malagyan Health Center, Miagao, Iloilo.
New born babies to age one availed of the Well Baby Clinic and children from 2-5 years old and 6-8 years old were given multivitamins. Eight grown-ups were able to avail of the free tooth extraction. The 2-5 age group will also have a year-long feeding program that started on this day and will be conducted every Saturday for the rest of the year.
On December 18, 2015, the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Alumni Council of North America (ACNA), through the Alpha Phi Omega Kappa Gamma (UPV chapter), in partnership with UP Visayas, signed a Memorandum of Agreement for this undertaking.
Miagao Mayor Macario Napulan, who himself is a medical doctor by profession, underscored the importance of good health and expressed his appreciation for the endeavour during a short program held at the Health Center.
Prof. Pepito R. Fernandez, Jr., faculty member of UP Visayas and project proponent, once again appealed to the community to cooperate with the barangay officials led by Brgy Captain Rose Mary F. Galvan to make the project successful.
ACNA President Alexander Garcia was once again represented by Zita Balagot and Rosemarie Mesina (Project Auditor and Evaluator, respectively).
