Plarisan earns highest GWA among SoTech graduates
Edpril B. Plarisan earned the highest GWA of 1.609 among the 2016 graduates of the School of Technology, making cum laude. The native of Hinigaran, Negros Occidental finished at the Hinigaran Elementary School-A as class salutatorian and earned his high school diploma at the Negros Occidental National Science High School Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The BS Chemical Engineering graduate said that his five years in UP has taught him a lot of things not only in the world of learning but also about life.
“Every year, as a student, was filled with challenges and struggles. But these challenges taught me how to survive and have probably prepared me for life after college.”
He added that UP has taught him how to manage time efficiently with its very demanding academic life such as: exams being given almost every other week, activities of school organizations, and other extra-curricular activities.
Despite studying hard to be a consistent college scholar, Plarisan still managed to be active outside the four walls of the classroom. Participating in quiz bowls, science fairs, attending seminars and conferences related to his field of specialization, and organizing events for OUnCES (Organization of University’s Chemical Engineering Students), Junior Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers and PIChE.
“UP has also taught me to be open-minded and be sensitive to others, to get involved in group activities and develop interpersonal skills, and to be resilient in every failure experienced. This is because no matter how many failures one experiences, life must go on,” he observed.
However, he also noted that life in UP is not just about the hardships but also about the blissful moments spent with the people whose company you truly cherish, value and enjoy.
“Life in UP was indeed a challenge, a struggle, but at the end of it all, when I look back at all the experiences I had, all the blood, sweat, tears were all worth it. I am confident that UP has molded me and along with my batch mates to be prepared for the future that lies ahead, and to achieve the plans we have for our future and for the country.
