UPV faculty and researcher are CHED REPUBLIKA 2016 Awards qualifiers
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) National Awards Board (NAB) has named the papers “Diversity and abundance of sea cucumber in Samar-Leyte, Philippines” of Dr. Margarita De La Cruz and “Diversity of planktonic organisms in selected areas of Panay Island, Philippines,” by Ms. Soledad S. Garibay as among the 50 qualifiers to the CHED REPUBLIKA Award 2016.
The CHED REPUBLIKA Awards is given every two years in recognition of outstanding research outputs that lead to significant advances in priority disciplines and contribute to the national development goals. Papers submitted for consideration are CHED – funded research output published in any ISI/Scopus – indexed journal as well as in any CHED accredited non-Scopus journal within the last three calendar years prior to the award year; CHED - funded research output that has been accepted for publication in an ISI/Scopus – indexed journal; or research papers included in conference proceedings that eventually gets published or accepted for publication in a CHED- accredited/ISI/Scopus – indexed journal. The awards have three major categories, namely: 1) Natural Sciences, 2) Social Sciences and Teacher Education, 3) Engineering, Mathematics and Information Technology, Agriculture and Fisheries.
Prior to the awards night, a 15-minute presentation of all the paper entries were presented during the “2016 Higher Education Research Convention”. Qualifiers were formally recognized during the CHED REPUBLIKA Awards Night on July 26, 2016 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila. A plaque of recognition as qualifiers and cash rewards were given.
