New Dorm in Miagao opens for residents
The newly constructed dormitory in the main campus of UP Visayas in Miagao had a soft opening on August 15, 2016 marked by a mass and blessing of the building. Office of Students Affairs (OSA) Director, Prof. Ruben Gamala welcomed the small crowd that gathered at the event comprising mostly of the OSA staff, dormitory heads and staff, and personnel of the Campus Development and Maintenance Office.
Gamala said that he has done a survey for the name of the new dorm so that it will have its own distinction just like Balay Lampirong, Gumamela, Kanlaon, Madia-as, and Apitong in Miagao and Balay Ilonggo in the Iloilo City campus.
The new dorm has two floors, each floor has 8 shower stalls, 2 urinals and 6 toilets. It has a total of 20 rooms and can accommodate 120 students.
