PAEP inaugurates UPV Iloilo City campus structures
UP President Alfredo E. Pascual visited the UP Visayas Iloilo City campus on August 22, 2016 to inaugurate newly constructed and renovated infrastructure projects. With him were Vice-President for Academic Affairs Gisela Concepcion and Vice-President for Planning and Finance Jose Florendo.
The UP System officials were received and assisted by UPV Chancellor Rommel A. Espinosa, Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs Emilia S. Yap, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension Ricardo Babaran, Vice-Chancellor for Administration Nestor Yunque, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Development Ruben Gamala, College of Management Dean Mary Ann Gumban, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Resurreccion Sadaba, UP High School Iloilo (UPHSI) Principal Lourdes Zamora, Office of the Continuing Education and Pahinungod Director Ma. Joji B. Tan, Sentro ng Wika Overall Coordinator Julie Ramirez, and other UPV officials.
Science, biology, and chemistry and physics classes of the junior high school students and the new entrants of the K-12 senior high school students will be accommodated in the newly renovated UPHSI laboratory classrooms. A total of P5M was allocated for the renovation of these four classrooms including its amenities.
The P3M “Balay Wika” of the Sentro ng Wikang Filipino will spearhead programs of the university in connection with the propagation of the Filipino language. It will also serve as a center for study, research, extension work and consultation of teachers of Filipino in Western Visayas and nearby regions.
Plans for the proposed renovation of the College of Management Building in the amount if P22.3M was also unveiled in front of CM alumni, faculty, staff and students. It will house undergraduate classes as well as graduate programs classes administered by the College of Management.
After the inauguration and unveiling of these facilities, Pascual also took time to meet with the College of Management Student Council for consultation. A meeting with the officers and members of the All UP Workers Union Iloilo Chapter also took place before the inauguration that include discussions on the UP contractual employees as well as personnel benefits.
Pascual then proceeded to the UPV Miagao campus to unveil and inaugurate more infrastructure projects.
