UPV celebrates Paskua 2016
It was an early Paskua celebration for UP Visayas whose highlight of activities was on December 9, 2016. This included the Liturgical Service during the late afternoon, the Lantern Parade that started at dusk, and Christmas Dinner and Program that capped the day’s event.
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) continues its winning streak in the Big Lantern contest by bagging the 1st place again for three years in a row. The College of Management (CM) was 2nd while the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) was 3rd. It also won first prize for the Handheld Lantern competition followed by CFOS and CM at 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
In the Welcome Cheer Competition, the Clovers (academic group of the Division of Biological Sciences, CAS) won 1st place, followed by CM and the School of Technology (SoTech). Meanwhile, in the group performance competition, CAS and CFOS tied in 1st place, followed by SoTech and CM.
CAS emerged as the overall champion in all the contests.
Chancellor Rommel A. Espinosa, led the UPV community in marking the PASKUA activities from the Liturgical Service down to the Christmas program. He was joined by UPV officials namely Vice-Chancellor for Administration Nestor Yunque, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension Ricardo Babaran, CAS Dean Resurreccion Sadaba, CFOS Dean Crispino Saclauso, SoTech Dean Emeliza Lozada and other officials of the administration.
The parade that were participated in by the students, faculty and staff of the various colleges, offices and units.
