Balay balay Child Minding Center rises in UPV Miagao
The Balay balay Child Minding Center was inaugurated in the UP Visayas Miagao campus on December 15, 2016 six months after its ground-breaking ceremony in June this year.
Children of UPV employees under five years of age, as well as those from the Miagao community, along with their parents, UPV officials, and staff gathered at the site for its blessing and inauguration.
The one story Center features a comfort room for boys and girls, a kitchen and a stock room. More importantly, it sits on a wide open space area where the children can run around and play although a fence has been put around the building to also keep the children safe. It is under the management of the UPV Gender and Development Program (GDP).
In a simple ceremony, Dr. Mary Barby Badayos-Jover, GDP Director, thanked the UPV administration, and the Campus Development Maintenance Office who oversaw the construction of the building.
The BBCMC is a service mandated by Executive Order No. 340. Section 1 of the EO says that all national government agencies and government-owned and-controlled corporations shall provide day care services to children of their employees under five years of age and should be provided either within their office facilities or in the areas accessible to the parents.
