UPV, APhiO service project completed
And so it ends.
The service project that UP Visayas and Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Council of North America (ACNA), through the Alpha Phi Omega Kappa Gamma (UPV chapter), 2016 was completed and ended on December 17, 2016.
Brgy. Malagyan, Miagao was the identified beneficiary for a year-long Feeding and Nutrition Program for children, Well-Baby Clinic, Medical Clinic and Dental Services for adults and children which was launched on January 16, 2016.
The project served new born babies to up to age one, children from 2-5 years old and 6-8 years old who were regularly given multivitamins and grown-ups who availed of the free monthly medical and dental clinic. The 2-5 age group, comprising of 50 children, was the focus of the project and had a year-long feeding program conducted every Saturday.
Though not included in the project, but upon the request of the barangay through its Brgy. Captain Rose Mary F. Galvan, the project organized a circumcision procedure in May that served 153 boys, ages 6-13 years-old. This was done during the monthly medical and dental clinic which regularly served about 25 to 35 beneficiaries.
Brgy. Captain Galvan, along with the mothers of the children, expressed their appreciation to APhiO and UP Visayas.
Prof. Pepito R. Fernandez, Jr., faculty member of the Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, UP Visayas and the project proponent, likewise thanked the community for their cooperation that made the project a successful endeavour. He was also thankful that APhiO ACNA sustained the project to the very end.
