UPV BSCS graduate tops ITPEC-FE Certification in ASEAN Region
An alumnus of the University of the Philippines Visayas Miagao Campus topped the recent Information Technology Professionals Examination Council – Fundamental Information Technology Engineers (ITPEC-FE) Certification Exam.
Franz Angelo Apoyon (BS Computer Science 2016), topped the examination with a score of 94.69%, besting 248 passers among 1,088 examinees from 7 countries in the ASEAN region namely Bangladesh, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the country, the certification exam was given by the Philippine National I.T. Foundation (PhilNITS) on October 23, 2016 and the results were released on December 8, 2016. Only 97 out of 294 examinees from the Philippines successfully passed the IT certification exam.
The ITPEC Certification Examination is an assessment tool of IT human resources that measures IT skills and knowledge of IT engineers. It is based on the IT Engineers Exam of Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA) of Japan. The certification is recognized in Japan and the 7 ASEAN countries mentioned.
Mr. Apoyon joins the elite club of ITPEC Top Gun whose members are the top-class scorers of ITPEC certification exams. He will participate in a 10-day ITPEC TOP GUN Program Training on February 20 to March 1, 2017 in Tokyo, Japan. The training includes project management, workshops and discussions with Japanese IT companies, and hands-on experience of cutting edge IT services and products of Japan.
