UP Ichthyophilic Society on 3rd medical mission
The UP Ichthyophilic Society (UPIS), an academic-based student organization from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, has always been mindful that UP, as a state-funded institution, has a moral obligation to give back to the community through various kinds of public service endeavors.
Now on its 3rd medical mission run, entitled, “Tagapagtaguyod ng Sector ng Pangisdaan,” UPIS It was able to provide medical, dental and circumcision services to 117 beneficiaries coming from 23 barangays of Miagao, Iloilo. It was held on April 29, 2017 at the Covered Court of the UP Visayas Miagao campus.
UPIS partnered with: the Asian Medical Students’ Association-WVSU, the Order of Asclepius-WVSU, St. Therese-MTCC Hospital, the 31st (Bayanihan)(INF) Brigade 31D, the 82nd Infantry (Bantay Laya) Battalion 31D, Dental Team 1, and the Municipality of Miagao.
In addition, UPIS also teamed up with other UPV student organizations that included the following: Sigma Beta Sorority and Beta Sigma Fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega (Kappa Gamma Chapter), Public Health Pub and the UP Vanguard Fraternity.
