New College of Management Building inaugurated
The College of Management (CM) has a new home with better facilities conducive to learning for its undergraduate and graduate enrollees. The new building was inaugurated on August 14, 2017 at the UPV Iloilo City campus.
CM Dean, Prof. Mary Ann T. Gumban and the faculty and staff welcomed top University officials during the event. Former UP President Alfredo Pascual, Current President Danilo Concepcion, CHED Commissioner for Western Visayas, Dr. J. Prospero De Vera unveiled the marker for the new building. They were joined by Chancellor Rommel Espinosa and the Vice Presidents of the UP System - Prof. Nestor Yunque for Administration, Prof. Elvira Zamora for Development, and Prof. Jose Florendo for Finance. UPV Vice Chancellors Prof. Emilia S. Yap, Dr. Ricardo Babaran, Dr. Evelyn Belleza and Prof. Raul Olaguer were also present during the ceremony along with other officials of the University.
The inauguration followed the blessing and mass presided by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ezpeleta, an alumnus of the College of Management.
The construction was realized though the hard work of its current Dean, Prof. Mary Ann T. Gumban who submitted a proposal for the building rehabilitation of the structure to then President Alfredo E. Pascual. The amount for the construction and amenities was taken from the reprogrammed funds of the UP System amounting to PhP35M and from the Graduate Tuition Fee Increment amounting to PhP10M.
The new building is fully air-conditioned and is equipped with a 16-channel surveillance camera. From a seven dilapidated-room building, it has been converted into a 12-room facility giving the students and faculty better learning and teaching environment.
