Monteclaro participates in symposium workshop in Thailand and Japan
Dr. Harold M. Monteclaro, Director of the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies (IFPDS), College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas participated in the Oceans and Fisheries Partnership Regional Gender Workshop and Regional Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) Planning Workshop on August 20-23, 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Hosted by the United States Agency for International Development’s Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAID Oceans), the workshop gathered program stakeholders to review findings from rapid appraisals for fisheries management conducted in the learning sites of the Philippines and Indonesia. Best practices and solutions for application in the regional fisheries were also discussed during the event.
Monteclaro presented the result of his study on gender analysis in the fisheries sector in the Philippines, specifically conducted in the General Santos area, for the Ocean and Fisheries Partnership.
Moreover, Monteclaro has also participated in the 11th International Kuroshio Science Symposium held in Kochi, Japan on July 21-29, 2017.
His travel to Thailand and Japan were funded by the National Network on Women in Fisheries in the Philippines, Inc. (WINFISH) and the National University Corporation Kochi University, respectively.
