Monteclaro, Espectato present papers at WCMB 2018
Prof. Harold M. Monteclaro and Ms. Liberty Espectato, director and faculty member of the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies, respectively, presented papers at the 4th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (WCMB) on May 13-16, 2018 held at Palais des congrès de Montréal, Canada.
Monteclaro and Espectato presented papers on the theme: marine policy and stewardship. Monteclaro’s paper is entitled “Gender perceptions in the management of the tuna industry in General Santos City, Philippines.”
Espectato’s paper, on the other hand, is about “Evaluating stakeholders’ perception on the impact of the closed season policy for sardines in Visayan Sea, Philippines using gender lens.”
The conference aimed to gather scientists, policy and decision makers, researchers, industry and NGOs to advance and discuss the importance and current state of biodiversity in the marine environment.
WCMB became an important meeting of experts from the academe to the industry to share research outcomes, management and policy issues, and discussions on the role of biodiversity in sustaining ocean ecosystems.
