Manny Villar to speak at UP Visayas’ 39th Commencement Exercises

Former Senate President Manuel Villar will be the featured speaker of UPV’s 39th Commencement Exercises on June 22, 2018, 3:30 PM at the UP Visayas’ main campus in Miagao, Iloilo.

Villar was a former senator of the Philippines from 2001 to June 2013 and was elected Senate President during his term. He also served as a Congressman in the district of Las Piñas from 1992 to 2001 wherein he was also elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives while serving his term.

He is an alumnus of the University of the Philippines (Diliman) with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Masters in Business Administration.

He founded Camella Homes now a part of Vista Land. He is the Chairman of the Board of All Value, the retail group comprising of All Day Supermarket and Convenience Store; AllHome, AllShoppe Department Store; AllToys and Coffee Project. His family is involved in water, energy and mining and owns Golden Haven Memorial Park, Inc.

UPV has also scheduled its Parangal on June 20, 2018 at the auditorium of its Iloilo City Campus at 6:00 PM. The Parangal is a commencement concert in honor of graduating students and their parents, their benefactors and the alumni. This year’s concert will feature the following classical performers: Mheco Joy Manlangit, Renz Nathaniel Cruz, Gabriel Allan Paguirigan, and Jan Briane Astom.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, 21 June 2018, 8:00 AM, the PAPURI will be held at the same venue with alumna Ms. Carolina-Figueroa – Geron, BS Fisheries ’85 as speaker. The ceremony will honor graduating honorific scholars and special achievement awardees.

The Baccalaureate Exercises will also be held on June 21 at 3:00 PM at the auditorium and GCEB training rooms with Fr. Edwin Z. Quinan as speaker.
