921 graduates receive diploma from UPV
Six-hundred ninety students from the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses and 231 from the UPV Tacloban College received diplomas for various degrees earned from UP Visayas during the Commencement Exercises held on June 26, 2015 at the Miagao campus and on June 29, 2015 at Tacloban campus grounds.
Raoul Danniel A. Manuel, BS Applied Mathematics major from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), led the graduates and made history as the first summa cum laude graduate of UP Visayas who scored a GWA of 1.099, the highest not only among the graduating Class of 2015 but in the history of UPV.
Of the 921 graduates, 802 earned bachelor degrees while 119 received diplomas for graduate degrees including two PhDs from the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS). One hundred three graduated with honors including Manuel, three magna cum laude and 99 cum laude graduates.
CAS had the largest number of graduates at 336, followed by the College of Management at 243, the UPV Tacloban College at 232, CFOS at 66 and the School of Technology at 45.
Hon. Roman T. Romulo, representative of the Lone District of Pasig was the Commencement Speaker for the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses ceremony while Sen. Pia Cayetano spoke at the UPV Tacloban College.
