Dean Yap, Monteclaro attend ILP governing council meeting in Japan
Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), UP Visayas and Prof. Harold M. Monteclaro, Coordinator for External Linkages of CFOS, participated in the 8th Governing Council Special Meeting of the Post Graduate (Master) Programme on Tropical Fisheries with International Linkage (ILP) in Kagoshima, Japan, on September 11, 2018.
Yap and Monteclaro represented the University in the meeting held at the Kagoshima University and discussed matters related to the implementation of the internationalized fisheries program. UPV, through CFOS, is one of the six (6) collaborating universities that are implementing this post graduate program on tropical fisheries.
The meeting was also attended by the various Deans and Coordinators from the Asian Region particularly from Sam Ratulangi University, Republic of Indonesia; Kasetsart University, Kingdom of Thailand; Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia; Kagoshima University, Japan; and Nha Trang University, Vietnam.
The collaborative undertaking was implemented in 2015. Students of the participating universities enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to be mentored by professors of the collaborating universities and spend a part of their program in the said institutions.
This year, three graduate students of CFOS participated in a 40-day exchange student program under the Summer Session for Postgraduate (Master) Programme on Tropical Fisheries with International Linkage at Kagoshima University from August 16~ September 27, 2018.
