Conducted in line with UPIS’s 53rd anniversary celebration, the talk was aimed to increase the awareness of the participants on issues concerning the aquatic environment and to promote fisheries as a profession.
The one-day activity highlighted the current situation, trends and emerging opportunities in fisheries science.
Three speakers from the industry and academe were invited as resource persons to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise related to fisheries. They were Dr. Victor Marco Emmanuel Ferriols, Assistant Professor of the Institute of Aquaculture, CFOS, UPV; Ms. Regina Bacalso, Fisheries Resource Management Specialist of Fish Right Program of USAID, Coastal Resource Center, University of Rhode Island, and Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; and Dr. Wilfredo Campos, Professor at the Division of Biological Science, College of Arts and Sciences, UPV.

This is our contribution to the continuing effort of the College and the University to extend quality and sincere public service to the fisheries sector.” stated UPIS president Ma. Novem Grace Ylayron.
About 215 participants from the fisherfolks, local government units of Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miagao, and San Joaquin, faculty, REPS, staff, alumni and students of UPV as well as students from other schools attended the engaging talk. (With sources from UPIS facebook account)
