“Just enough physical movements without taxing too much the not so very athletic employees of the university.”

This was the concept of “Palarong pang Empleyado,” primarily designed to encourage office workers to have a break from sitting in the office eight hours a day, five days a week, year after year.

Although they were made to do all kinds of movements that tested speed, endurance, agility and flexibility through various games, these were gentler and were combined with an element of fun.

Close to 90 employees were at the UP Visayas covered court in Miagao on November 28, 2018 to participate in the said event.

They were divided into four teams according to the colors of blue, green, red and yellow. The first and second place winners were given a cash prize of
P 1,250 and P 750 respectively.

“It is important to strike a balance in life, said UPV Chancellor Ricardo Babaran in a short message read by Prof. Gay Defiesta (Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs). He said that work and play should be a part of one’s life.

Wellness not illness has always been the advocacy of the UPV Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Committee who organized the event.
