“Pagpasalamat, paghiliugyon kag paghidaet” in UPV Paskua 2018
Festive, merry and full of lights – these and more marked UP Visayas’ Paskua 2018 celebration.
The simultaneous lighting of Christmas lights on Dec. 4 in the Miagao and Iloilo City campuses ushered in the season while the fun run and community breakfast on Dec. 12, provided fun and fellowship for the UPV community.
A cherished tradition annually observed not only in the UP Visayas community but throughout the campuses of the University of the Philippines is the Lantern Parade. In UPV it was held on Dec. 14.
Competitions in the big lanterns, hand-held lanterns, parade performance and welcome cheers among various academic groups and offices in UPV added to create a festive mood. The parade started from the administration building to the town proper and back.
The College of Arts Sciences had a grand slam win in the big lantern, hand-held lanterns, and parade performance contests while the welcome cheer was won by the Skimmers (Division of Humanities).
A new contest this year was the Mr. or Ms. Q & A. The candidate of Scions (College of Management) was the winner while that of the School of Technology was judged as best in production number.
This year UPV focused on “pagpasalamat, paghiliugyon kag paghidaet” as the theme of its annual Christmas celebration.
