The Indigenous Peoples Resource Center (IPRC) under the supervision of the Center West Visayan Studies of the College of Arts and Sciences, UP Visayas, was tapped by the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 6 to facilitate the discussion on Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practice (IKSPs) and how it can be integrated in programs and projects of Local Government Units (LGUs) in Region 6. This was held during the Indigenous Peoples Sensitivity Training which was divided in three batches and held last August 29-31, September 3-5 and 10-12, 2018 at SEDA Hotel, Iloilo City.
UP Visayas will be hosting the UKEAS “International Study Abroad Education Fair” on September 27, 2018 at its Iloilo City campus.
According to its website, UKEAS is an education consultancy which provides free and impartial counselling and application services for international students wishing to study at high schools, colleges and universities in the United Kingdom.
It was founded in Taiwan in 1993, and since then has helped thousands of students to study in the UK. Having grown considerably, it now has offices in Taiwan, China, Vietnam, the Philippines and Nigeria, as well as a base in the UK.
The Commission on Audit has recognized the UP Visayas Accounting Office as one of the 2018 Outstanding Accounting Offices of the country. In a letter to Chancellor Babaran, with attention to Ms. Jocelyn Genesila, UPV Chief Accountant, the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines, (AGAP), Inc. informed UP Visayas of this recognition citing the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of UPV Fiscal Year 2017 financial report.
The awarding rites will be held at the Iloilo Convention Center, Megaworld Blvd., Mandurriao, Iloilo City on October 17, 2018.
Department of Chemistry professor and alumni are finalists at the 8th Fisheries Scientific Conference (SciCon) for Best Poster Presentation
A Department of Chemistry professor and alumni were finalists in the 8th Fisheries Scientific Conference which was held at the Hotel Jen, Metro Manila on September 5-6, 2018. The theme of the conference was “Fisheries RDE: Pagkaing Sapat para sa Lahat,” which underscored the Department of Agriculture’s constant effort to develop new technologies and innovations that will help the fishery sector contribute to the end-goal of providing available and affordable food for all.
