Iloilo City, Philippines - The Office of the Vice President (OVP) and UNFPA, the United Nations reproductive health and rights agency, celebrate International Women’s Day by engaging women and girls at the University of the Philippines Visayas - Iloilo City Campus and Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology.
The two events, held simultaneously, are part of the Babaenihan campaign to raise awareness about the urgency of addressing teenage pregnancy through investments in education, health and economic opportunities.
A career talk entitled “Dispotatio Vitae 2018” was held on February 28, 2018 at the MILC, CAS, UPV Miagao. Dispotatio Vitae is Latin for the term “career talk” that aims to prepare our graduates for the world of work by sharing information and insights of basic knowledge in landing a job.
Invited resource speakers gave the participants’ pointers in writing their application letters, resumes and, the rigours of the job interview.

As it marked the 71st year of UP’s establishment in Iloilo, UP Visayas focused on its community engagements through its theme, “Bridging Academic Excellence and Commitment for a Sustained Public Service.”
The week-long celebration ran from February 19-23, 2018 with various activities held at its Miagao and Iloilo City campuses. These activities highlighted UP’s spirit of service to the larger community through its projects and programs. In addition, lectures, foras, exhibits, performances, and film festivals, were also featured.
As part of the celebration of the 71st Anniversary of the UP Presence in Iloilo, the UPV College of Arts and Sciences and the UPV Office of Continuing Education and Pahinungod, in collaboration with UP Manila College of Public Health, conducted a World Expert Lecture Series on “International Carries Detection and Assessment System” on February 21, 2018 at the Graduate and Continuing Education Building Training Rooms, UPV Iloilo City Campus.
