Dr. Liberato V. Laureta, Jr., retired faculty member of the Institute of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, received his appointment as Professor Emeritus, as conferred by the Board of Regents during its 1334th Board of Regents Meeting on April 06, 2018, upon the recommendation of the President of the University, University of the Philippines System, effective upon his retirement on May 23, 2017. Along with this title are all the rights and privileges as well as duties and obligations attached to the position in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University and the Constitution and Laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
Continuing its aim to provide academic support to students in terms of supplemental resource materials, the Teaching and Learning Resource Center facilitated the registration of students with G.E. courses in the semester to the G.E. Portal which started on August 1, 2018.
The G.E. portal is an online archive which provides students access to resource and reading materials, course modules, and other supplemental references for the G.E. courses.
The official academic year starts on August 6, 2018, but for some of the freshmen in the University of the Philippines Visayas, it started two weeks earlier as they get the first taste of UP education in the Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics conducted by the Teaching and Learning Resource Center at the UPV Miagao campus.
In celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day, Senator Loren Legarda today led the launch of the book on Panay-Guimaras traditional knowledge systems at the University of the Philippines-Visayas in Iloilo City.
The book, From the Seas to the Mountain — Panay-Guimaras Traditional Knowledge Systems, is a product of extensive research and collaborative efforts of the state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Western Visayas to document and promote the various traditional knowledge systems in the region.
